LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville held off in-state rival Kentucky, 62-59, to win a hard-fought Battle of the Bluegrass at the KFC Yum! Center.
The Cardinals led by seven late in the second half before the Wildcats rallied to tie the game with one minute left.
Free throws put Louisville ahead and, with time expiring, Kentucky's Brandon Boston missed a 3-pointer that would have sent the game to overtime.
The Louisville win snaps a three-game skid against the Wildcats. The Cardinals improve to 6-1. UK drops to 1-6.
UofL begins ACC play next Saturday at Boston College.
Kentucky's SEC opener is next Saturday at Mississippi State.
